We have been developing new tools to add to our portfolio, allowing us to help airports understand different approaches to capacity and operational efficiency, as well as increasing their resilience to future demands by accurately forecasting future traffic.
Both of our new tools apply a scientific approach to common airport scenarios, taking into account the advances made in automation and the constant innovation in the aviation industry and ensuring that our clients have all the data they need to make intelligent and effective decisions.
Multi-Step Check-In Capacity Analysis
We have developed and refined our bespoke software TransvisionAiR™, including the introduction of a new feature that enables us to simulate the multi-step check-in process associated with self-bag drop. See above an example of the tool. This allows airport operators and airlines get a better understanding of their existing and potential capacity to support their decision-making.
It’s also our best ever 3D simulation with using Unity 3D. Providing more realistic simulations for clients, they benefit from a clear vision of the efficiency of their facilities and how we can increase capacity with a more innovative check-in process, including new layouts or design options to reduce waiting times.
Capacity Assessment IATA Tool
Our updated IATA Tool is a development of our existing IATA software using the new LoS requirements as outlined in the ADRM edition v5 published in 2014.
IATA standards are a priority for AiQ Consulting. This is something that other aviation consultancies do not automatically consider. We believe that by using IATA standards our clients can not only visualise how their future airport will comply with the guidance, but it also allows us to highlight capacity and operational efficiency improvements. Our new tool has sections covering processes from check-in desks and security lanes to emigration.
The tool is quick and efficient, with an approach designed to make the IATA LoC meaningful by applying actual airport data. We can tell airports the optimum space required per passenger at all processes and optimum waiting time per passenger at each process, a valuable device in order to understand how their airport is working and what can be done to improve it.
Airport Traffic Forecasting Tool
Our team has also developed a tool to generate forecast future annual and peak hour traffic. This forecasting tool uses Regression analysis, a more accurate and realistic method than trend forecasts. It predicts traffic on other variables that could influence statistics, such as GDP, exchange rate, fuel price, and unemployment figures, and much more. It tells us which variables affect the traffic and how, in a much more robust, holistic approach.
Our tool then efficiently uses and applies this scientific methodology, creating scenario forecasting models that make future airports aware of change.
This use of Big Data allows us to approach forecasting issues scientifically and with an awareness of the bigger picture, be it economic factors or social change.
